An accident is stressful, even a small one. This guide explains what drivers in Sharjah should do right after a collision, which report you need, and how to get your car repaired properly afterwards.
1. Make everyone safe first
Switch on your hazard lights and check that everyone is unhurt. If anyone is injured, or the accident is serious, call 999 straight away and do not move the vehicles.
- If it is a minor accident and the cars can be driven, move them to the side of the road so you don't block traffic. Sharjah Police regularly ask drivers to do this.
- Never leave the scene without reporting the accident. That is an offence in the UAE.
2. Report the accident
In Sharjah, minor accidents with no injuries are reported through Rafid, the official accident-reporting service used by Sharjah Police. You can report in the Rafid app or call Rafid to request a patrol. For injuries or serious accidents, call 999.
- Rafid app: register, choose accident reporting, add both vehicles, licence photos and photos of the damage, then pay the report fee shown in the app.
- Phone: Rafid 80092, or 999 for police.
- You receive the accident report by SMS and email, usually within minutes.
- If someone hit your parked car and left, report it as well. You still need a report to repair the damage.
3. Collect photos and details
Before you leave, take clear photos of both cars, the number plates, the road and the damage from several angles. Note the other driver's name, phone number and insurance company. These help your insurer and your repair garage.
4. Why the police report matters
The accident report is not just paperwork. Insurers need it to process a claim, and UAE traffic law does not allow a garage to repair a vehicle with accident damage without official permission, which in practice means the police report. A trustworthy garage will always ask to see it before starting work.
5. Insurance and repair
Contact your insurance company with the report. Depending on your policy, the insurer may send the car to an agency or a garage, or approve repair at a garage you choose. Ask for a detailed written estimate before any work starts.
- We give you a detailed written estimate you can share with your insurer.
- We repair panels, chassis and mechanical damage, then colour-match the paint.
- If we find hidden damage once the car is opened, we call you before doing anything extra.
